Perfect For
Using This Preset Well
This wheel picks a category for a class discussion. The eight defaults are areas, not questions: Current Events, Ethics Dilemma, Future Predictions, Historical What-Ifs, Technology Impact, Environmental Issues, Cultural Topics, and Personal Growth. The teacher still supplies the actual question. Most people who use it keep a short list of one or two questions per category, spin at the start of a morning meeting or an advisory period, and read out the matching question. Because the class sees the category chosen at random, students cannot complain that the teacher always picks the topic they dislike. It also works for speaking practice in language classes and as a warm-up before a debate lesson, where the class talks for five minutes on the chosen area before the formal motion is set.
Setup checklist
- Write at least one concrete question for each category before class. The wheel chooses the area, and you need something ready to ask.
- Remove categories that do not suit the age group or the day. Current Events after a difficult news week is a judgment call.
- Replace categories with actual questions if you would rather the wheel pick the question itself.
How to read the result
Each of the eight categories has a 1 in 8 chance per spin, and a category can repeat on consecutive days. Turn on Remove winner if you want all eight covered over two weeks before any repeat. The result names a topic area; it does not set a position, assign sides, or limit how long the discussion runs.
Limits
A category like Ethics Dilemma or Cultural Topics can lead somewhere sensitive very fast. The wheel cannot moderate and cannot tell which students have a personal stake in a subject. The teacher remains responsible for framing the question, setting ground rules, and steering the conversation away from anything that would single a student out.
